How ? Yet another how to do?

No this is important to everyone using blogs and web pages with Images that they have taken the time to upload to their site. Give them good descriptive tags for google to pick up it will help your SEO Robs article on the subject is imformative.

What is Google Image Search?

Google has a dedicated version of its search engine called Image Search which helps find images. Claiming to be the most comprehensive image search facility on the web, it has billions of images from websites already within its index. When searching for images, you can tailor the search for various sizes and choose a specific type of image you’re looking for, such as a photo, clipart or head shot.

When clicking on a image, the image will load as a preview in one frame, whilst showing the website the image is from in a frame below. This gives you the option of visiting the website or enlarging the image to full size. Google Image Search is popular. It actually gets more traffic than Yahoo, Window Live Search and Ask Jeeves.

Why is Google Image Search Important To Me? As mentioned, Google Image Search gets more traffic than supposed major search engines in the UK, typically getting more visits than websites such as Amazon and MySpace (Source: Hitwise). This means Google Image Search is a potential source for traffic to your site, and although perhaps not as targeted as conventional search, implies that people are actively searching for what you offer.

The biggest reason to start optimizing for Google Image Search is that it is not as competitive as normal search, despite the great amount of traffic it can provide. Although ranking well in Google Image Search itself does not help your conventional search engine rankings, a byproduct of ranking well in Google Image Search could mean this will happen eventually because of the viral potential.

How Do I Get My Images onto Google Image Search?

You cannot submit images in the same way you can submit your website or sitemap to Google. Results are entirely shown by Google’s algorithm after indexing all websites it finds. Google’s imaging spider is called Google Image Bot. It crawls the web and indexes all of the pages it can find. Being a program, it cannot ’see’ images, so it has other ways of determining an image’s relevancy. These factors are:

1. Descriptive Image Name

When optimizing a website, we have talked about relevancy in other articles. It sounds obvious, but you have to talk about what you do. Integrating keyword phrases into this content is essential and makes a genuine difference to rankings. In a simplified way, this is no different for images.

Your images should be named after their subject. For example, if you want to come up in Google Image Search for David Beckham you should call it something along the lines of ‘david-beckham.jpg’ as opposed to something generic such as ‘photo1234.jpg.’ Likewise, if you have a folder full of David Beckham images, name the folder descriptively too.

2. Compliant Images

Creating accessibility compliant images works in hand with being descriptive and relevant. There are a number of criteria you have to meet to have an officially compliant image. These criteria are:

A ’src’ attribute specifying the URL of the image

A width and height declaration of the image in pixels

An ‘alt’ attribute that describes the content of the image

A ‘title’ attribute that contains a text description when hovering over the image

The ‘alt’ and ‘title’ tag are specifically important for optimization as they are way of building in keyword phrases, e.g. David Beckham. Below is an example of how the code and image should look for the David Beckham image:

3. On Page Optimization

If you’re reading this far, you probably know a fair amount about Search Engine Optimization. In order to get your images ranking well in Google Image Search, you’ll need to have the whole page optimized towards that image. Therefore, try not to be optimizing the page for more than one subject, such as mixing David Beckham with Kevin Pietersen (he’s a cricketer for the Yanks reading this!).

You should concentrate on being descriptive for the Title and Meta tags. One of the more important factors specific to Image Search optimization is not only concentrating on relevant content, but specifically the content in close proximity to the image. Bear this in mind when setting the layout of the page!

4. PageRank and Backlinks

Another factor shared with general Search Engine Optimization is that Google will rank an image higher if it is on an authority page. This means a page that has backlinks and consequently, a relatively good Google PageRank. Try to generate backlinks to the specific page by visiting forums, blogs and other websites related to the subject matter. Also be sure to internal link to the page so it is indexed quickly and gains some PageRank from your established pages. For both inbound and internal links, make sure they have descriptive anchor text.

5. Website Relevancy

Although important, PageRank isn’t as important with Image Search as with ranking on Google’s main search engine. Website relevancy counts for more, so if you had a whole website dedicated to David Beckham, this would be better than having a single page. If this isn’t possible, try to create a ‘theme’ within your website where you create more than one page about the subject matter. You should then inter-link these pages.

Website Relevancy is considered of growing importance within the SEO world and should be factored into your website wide optimization planning.

6. Image Storage

Related to relevancy, Google’s Image Guidelines suggest saving all related images in the same folder. If Google can see you concentrate on this subject, this could potentially boost your ranking within Google Images. Likewise, if you talk a lot about the chosen subject across many pages, you may want keep them under a well titled sub-folder.

Avoid Duplication

When it comes to Search Engine Optimization, duplicate content is a bad thing. Copying your own content across many websites, or worse still, stealing someone else’s content, is something you should avoid. The Google algorithm is clever enough to know which came first, and it is no different with images. You can see this mentioned by Peter Linsley (Google’s Product Manager) on YouTube.

How do you avoid duplication with an image? Of course, because search engines can’t actually see images, you can use the same ones as repeated elsewhere. Just ensure they are named differently and are a different size. Having a variation of sizes could help traffic as users can specify to only view small, medium and large images.

My Page is Well Optimized, Why am I not Showing on Google Image Search?

The Google Image Bot does not crawl as often as Google’s search engine bot “GoogleBot.” This is why having a high PageRank is important, because it demonstrates you have plenty of backlinks. The more roads that lead to you, the bigger the chances of the Google Image Bot visiting your website and the page in question.

The Viral Effect

People often use Google Image Search so they can share an image or use it themselves. If certain pages on your website are getting a lot of traffic, consider watermarking the images with your website address, as this could be free advertising for you. You can check your website logs by using a program such as Google Analytics which will reveal what websites are using your images directly (known as hot linking).

When watermarking images, do not make your website address or logo too obtrusive. People simply won’t use your image which will render your hard work pointless. Here is an example of our David Beckham photo with a Webtacular watermark.

http://www.webtacular.co.uk/images/articles/photo-david-beckham-watermark.jpg

Alternative Revenue Stream

Some images you have on your website may not have a direct link to something you provide or sell. The truth is, views from Google Image Search generally don’t convert into sales any where near as well as conventional search. This doesn’t mean you can’t make money from an image that ranks well in Google Image search however!

A percentage of people using Image Search are actively seeking more information on the subject matter. By installing Google AdSense on your website, you can earn revenue by having Sponsored Links on your page. Google’s AdSense automatically tailors adverts to the content on your page, delivering highly targeted links that should generate clicks (and therefore money) to you.

By showing adverts related to the page’s content, Google AdSense also works as a useful diagnostic tool to see how well optimized your pages are for Image Search.

Google Image Labeler

In August 2006, Google launched the Image Labeler (http://images.google.com/imagelabeler/) service as a beta. Three years later, it’s still under beta. This may be because they rely on the public to use it. It is marketed as a ‘game’ where two users race against each other to label images. Clever ploy to get people to categorise millions of images without paying them? You decide…

Effectively, the Image Labeler tells Google what keyword phrases an image should come up for in the Image Search results. The ‘game’ is random so there is no way of finding your own images, but with thousands of users, someone else could be doing you a favor.

In order to have your images show up in Google Image Labeler you will need to authorise it first. To do this, log in or setup a Google Webmaster account. Under ‘Settings’ there is a checkbox to choose to be included.

Marketing strategy for Social Media Optimization (SMO).

In the recent past Search Engine Optimization involved SEO 1.0 and link building- which spawned an industry of its own as people offered to get you links to your web site for a fee and so hopefully your site would be top of the page in Google for certain keyword.

What they failed to mention is they were unable to control Google! So there were no Guarantees and the web sites position could be lost to your competition 10 minutes later!

Google is now recognising public preferences for sites others have found interesting and informative!so the era of Social Media Optimization (SMO) is born and with it SEO 2.0.

SEO 1.0 Linking was important.
SEO 2.0 Others are connecting with you – your community and audience which google now looks at as important and ranks your site accordingly. (Put simply are others sharing the content, voting for the site or linking to the content/post.)

So here they are again your 5 Step Marketing Strategy for Social Media Optimization (SMO) you may have heard it all before in YourNetBiz training with LetITPay and The Jeremiah 2911 Team training.

1. Build your central hub – Your Blog or website.-It needs to be active and not a static site preferably.

2. Discover potential Communities and Networks or Forums – This is often referred to as Social Media planned involvement also known as blueprinting (In the past your PR strategy).

3. Study these communities – Learn all about what makes it Tick – As yourself the Question can you offer them solutions or content that will be seen as interesting?

4. Strategies how you will deliver you unique content or solution to the community This is very important step in the process.

5. The audience will be engaged by you if you have followed each step effectively and the result will be your fan club. Like all buildings if constructed on a solid foundation you will have the option of building a skyscraper or Mansion that will last for years.(Mashable.com – Social Media expert is a good example with his fan club and followers).

This will not happen over night so maybe decide if you want to go down this route first before starting. Congratulations if you do decide to take this option and recommend you put it into the daily schedule to prepare the content (note prepare not post).

Lastly be sure your home page provides a reason for them to do business with you that after all is the reason for getting involved with Social marketing you have a product to sell.

Have a great weekend.

Have You Heard “ClickBank is The one way to Make Money on line?”

No IT Is Not!

Have you considered? – Learning how to make a lot of money online with professionals, get training and a tool box you can use for years.

Then take a dream vacation while the money rolls in!

I can just hear your thoughts yeah yeah yeah we have heard it all before making a lot of money is not that simple and training costs money, Lots of it !

Then you have to find products that are popular that people want and need.

Well you are partly right but I still say there are TWO easy ways you can make money online. You may have seen on TV (if in the UK last week on ITV proof on the program “Could the internet make you rich?

ClickBank.com is one way to Make Money The second is Make your Dream Fortune with an Internet Business!

You can earn up to 75% in commissions with ClickBank.com selling information products for other people, over the years it has become one of the well proven ways to make easy money on the net. Further proof lays in the fact that selling ClickBank product’s has gone on for over 11 years.

The products are considered cheap by some. Some even suggest you will only ever earn pennies in the Pound or $50 here & there.

Your earnings are capped! But there is one way around it! You create products and get others to sell your products! But your earnings will remain capped!

Now even if you step out and purchase training material and create your own product. Securing the all importantly TEAM of top selling affiliates to sell your product it is going to be hard work!

Work ! Work ! Work ! And a LOT of IT, You will be relying on others and Old Man Luck to get your product out there!

The second way is have an Internet Business!

Here is the finest option open to you. Lock into an “Internet Business in a Box” like one of the many offered online today but find one that is standing out from the crowd.

Like YourNetBiz!

Here is why it stands out from the crowd!

The products (3000 plus) are yours to sell for 100% profit then like ClickBank.com you are able to add your own products and members can sell them on commission for you, you set the commission.

Yeah Yeah! I hear!

What about the fact that you get all the training material included? What if that is not all? What if they throw in a Vacation Club? What if you can share opportunity with others introduce them to your Internet Business?

Well to sum up your Internet Business choices, you can sell ClickBank.com products as an affiliate & make pennies in the Pound or nickel & dimes – or your alternative is secure your future with a real internet business invest in an Internet Business in a box just as you would buy a franchise.

Guys Callen is a person I think you should watch
and give to your new sign ups as they are free tools.

Talk about extremely cool tools he gives with a refer 5
and get an upgrade for free.

I have just discovered another one and yes it is also FREE.

I love the 1st one where You Watch EXACTLY What Your
Visitors are Doing on YOUR Site…

While They’re Doing It ==> DownLoad here

The 2nd tool allows you to see what any Adwords advertiser is
currently bidding on via Google Adwords!

This should be illegal and I can’t believe he is giving it away for free.

And what’s even cooler about it is how it works. All you
have to do is browse Google, and the software will
automatically place a “view keywords” button
below any Adwords advertiser’s listing.

If you click the button, up will popup a window that shows
you the keywords they’re bidding on! It’s super cool check on Jack and Bob et al !.

Here’s the link where you can download it for free:

So What’s Hot? Article Writer? Chocolates ?

Are you an article writer? If so, you probably know with laser exactitude how essential and vitally important it is to write humorous fun, interesting, and super to read articles. Unfortunately, Yes I am sorry I have to say this there are many writers who simply forget that not every reader has the intense interests they have in their topic.

It goes without saying; you are urged or should be urged (with a box of chocolates as a reward) to write articles on subjects you like (Do You like chocolates?). Topics that you truly enjoy or you are familiar with! But, here comes the but! if you are writing for a purpose other than enjoyment. For instance you are writing to drive traffic to your web pages? If you are, you are urged to broaden your immediate horizons! You may and possible should consider and be thinking about writing articles that cover “hot topics,” Not Chocolates even if those topics are outside of your comfort zone.

You may be shocked and surprised to learn and discover here that the majority of article writers are like you and I! So when it comes to you wanting to write new interesting articles that are outside of your usual comfort zone (Your comfort Zone being how to eat those delicious chocolates),and you find yourself automatically slipping into “I wonder how I am are going to get started on a “hot topic” article?”.

Be focused, the approaches open to you are numerous. It is highly recommended that your first steps should start with a brainstorming session. I have found when approached Ezine expert writers will admit to you that they find that they now automatically slip into brainstorming session when news breaks and a new hot topic comes to their attention. You see how, just like you and I can come up with a new idea to link an article to, a new hot topic!

Brainstorming starts there and then.

Incredibly, there are so many aspirant writers who believe that to brainstorm an idea involves using your brain and your brain alone! Your mind, in reality, fortunately isn’t the only recommended route you should use to make brainstorming really worth its while! Think back to your absolute favorite childhood chocolate—Maybe you will remember your favorite but not all the bars available at the time! This is where your alternatives kick in -Surf the internet! In fact, when it comes to writing articles that you are unfamiliar with i.e. not chocolate, you will probably realize very soon that surfing the internet has replaced the local library as your best place to source good topical information for your topical articles.

As suggested above, reaching the majority of readers should be your objective. This is why you want to write articles that are laser focused on subjects that are considered “hot Topics” to attract discerning readers. To the article writer this opens up a Pandora’s Box of chocolates and includes a large number of different nuggets.

Where do you find an instance “hot topic,”? You may consider a recent new report, local gossip concerning a popular celebrity, a highly debated issue, or even a popular product or service that is available to the public. Fortunately which “hot topic,” you decide you would like to cover is yours to make; here is where you should remember and know that many Internet users enjoy reading articles that focus on popular products or services. These types of articles are often referred to as product reviews (The latest healthy low fat Chocolate reviewed?)

Using the internet is recommended, if you are interested in writing an article centered on a specific software product you have or writing a hard product review, you will want to examine popular shopping websites. The most popular two websites are eBay and Amazon, eBay and Amazon are great as they often list popular, big ticket items right on their home pages.

The most purchased or at least researched items are often the ones that appear here. So you guessed it write an article that is laser focused on a popular item or hot topic like Twitter (not Chocolate Hershey bars!)is recommended. Brainstorming is almost over –Now you know Items that internet users are buying is one of the best ways to create fun, interesting, and needed articles; now you know which ones will actually be read. The same can be said for a commonly offered services or a popular news story.

Brainstorming is over, you have now decide exactly what you would like your article topic to be, next you need to decide the focus of the article and finally what you will write. It I suggested, the very best and quickest way to do this is to create an outline of the topical article for yourself. First thoroughly research or examine the topic you have chosen. Then make the first outline, it is important at this stage that you plan what you intend covering in your article. If you are planning on writing a Chocolate article for instance, are looking to write your article on the most popular named brands like Cadbury’s?, If you are then it is strongly recommended that you familiarize yourself with every Cadbury’s chocolate bar available, That is if you can! I am sure you have caught the idea!

Even though it is said the very best product review articles are penned by writers who have actually tried and tested the product or service in question, use isn’t an absolute requirement. Online product reviews can be found easily; in fact, you can do this right at
The Amazon and eBay websites as suggested.

Now it is time to set out and to write your laser focused article on the “hot topic” or on a, particularly popular product of your choice. Remember your best chance of success should involve your using the internet and possibly a shopping website like Amazon or eBay.

However, like shopping for chocolate brands you do have options not just Cadbury’s. Your research options take you back to the internet and non standard searches, like keyword research tools. A standard internet search will allow you to determine which topics are already used as articles; thus giving you an idea of your competition. Keyword research tools often tell you exactly what keywords internet users are searching with and how those searches are being performed.

Whatever you choose to write about, whether it is covering a product, service, or a news story, you are sure to find success, as long as you cover something that is popular at the moment or is needed like chocolates. This approach is one of the easiest and quickest ways to get your name and your articles distributed over the internet.

To your success,
Vanda–Lynn

P.S. Even “hot topic,” articles can be boring to read. That is why it is important that you write from the heart.
